Walking on the Sea

‘He said to them, “Come away into a deserted place, and rest awhile.” For there were many coming and going, and they had no leisure so much as to eat. Immediately he made his disciples get into the boat and go ahead to the other side, to Bethsaida, while he himself sent the multitude away. After he had taken leave of them, he went up the mountain to pray. ‘ Mark 6:31,45-46

The LORD has Made Room for us

He (Isaac) went up from there to Beersheba. The Lord appeared to him the same night, and said, “I am the God of Abraham your father. Don’t be afraid for I am with you, and will bless you, and multiply your offspring for my servant Abraham’s sake.” He built an altar there, and called on the Lord’s name, and pitched his tent there. There Isaac’s servants dug a well. Genesis 26: 23-25

I’ll Also Draw Water for Your Camels

‘Before Eliezer had finished speaking (praying), Rebekah came out with her [water] jar on her shoulder. Rebekah was the daughter of Bethuel the son of Milcah, who was the wife of Abraham’s brother Nahor. now let it be that the girl to whom I say, ‘Please, let down your jar so that I may [have a] drink,’ and she replies, ‘Drink, and I will also give your camels water to drink’—may she be the one whom You have selected [as a wife] for Your servant Isaac; and by this I will know that You have shown lovingkindness (faithfulness) to my master.” ‘ Genesis 24:14-15

Justified by Works

‘Abraham said, “God will provide himself the lamb for a burnt offering, my son.” So they both went together. They came to the place which God had told him of. Abraham built the altar there, and laid the wood in order, bound Isaac his son, and laid him on the altar, on the wood. Abraham stretched out his hand, and took the knife to kill his son. The Lord’s angel called to him out of the sky, and said, “Abraham, Abraham!” He said, “Here I am.” He said, “Don’t lay your hand on the boy or do anything to him. For now I know that you fear God, since you have not withheld your son, your only son, from me.” ‘ Genesis 22:8-12

Sarah Conceived

‘She said, “Who would have said to Abraham that Sarah would nurse children? For I have borne him a son in his old age.” The child grew and was weaned. Abraham made a great feast on the day that Isaac was weaned. Sarah saw the son of Hagar the Egyptian, whom she had borne to Abraham, mocking. Therefore she said to Abraham, “Cast out this servant and her son! For the son of this servant will not be heir with my son, Isaac.” ‘
Genesis 21:7-10

She is my Sister

‘Now Abimelech had not come near her. He said, “Lord, will you kill even a righteous nation? Didn’t he tell me, ‘She is my sister’? She, even she herself, said, ‘He is my brother.’ I have done this in the integrity of my heart and the innocence of my hands.” ‘
